It's one of the best Italian restaurant in Scottsdale and the food is out of this world

Owner was awful. He was our waiter. Wish they had good reviews so my review would stand out. This is just going to get lost in the sea of other negative reviews.... DO NOT EAT HERE. Saw a rat in the restaurant. 😷

Always one of the classiest and most nostalgic restaurants in the area. Great place to go by yourself, a group, or even better a date. I'm from here and the Italian Grotto has always been one of our local hangouts. I especially love this place during baseball season. The Italian Grotto loves and supports or Vets. Couldn't think of a better place for a homecoming with my family and friends. No one paid or gave me anything for this review. The Italian Grotto earned it with all their years of outstanding service and food to me, my family, and a bunch of friends.

The atmosphere is like going back in time, which was a good thing. The food was very good. I gave it a 3 star due to the service. Our waiter was so blah. No personality whatsoever. I never got a refill on my iced tea and when I saw they charged $4 for an iced tea or soft drink i was not a happy camper.

We had a delicious lunch. This place had an authentic, vintage neighborhood feel. Pasta served hot like mama makes.

Went here for lunch today. Food was mediocre at best. Marinara sauce tasted like it came from a can. Could not eat all of it, so I brought the rest of my entrée home. Later, when I ate the rest of my meal, I found PLASTIC WRAP in my food. Awful and unacceptable! I knew I should have gone across the street to Buca!

Came here with a large work group (~20). For our size, service was great with some spice -must be able to take a joke here. Appetizers were good and my food was delicious - no complaints.

The last thing I expected when I walked in this place was to have one of the best meals I've had in a long time. It was amazing...from the bread, to the salad dressing, to the entree, to the dessert. I dont give 5 stars.... but might have if the coffee and washroom were better.

Incredible food, service and ambiance. Our server was incredible (Meatball, as we were told to call him)!! We were seated by the owner. To say the least we were impressed and VERY satisfied with our food and our whole experience.

Best meat sauce I have ever had! Love the baseball memorabilia. A bit pricier than I expected, but the food was worth it. My husband had veal, and he said it was delicious. Will definitely go back!

One of the best food places in Scottsdale that has a very chill atmosphere and won't skimp on the food portions. Always enough for a lunch the next day. TV's covering sports games are at the front with the bar, with the tables in the back having a nice romantic mood. The owner and waiters are amazing, and have a sense of humor which is a rare find! If you've never been, I highly suggest trying either the chicken Carolina, halibut, or shrimp scampi if you can't decide. You'll want to come back and try more entrees if you do! Been coming here for many years, and it's still my favorite go-to Italian place!

This place is great!! I was in Scottsdale for a week on business and went there twice! The food there is the best, not to mention their wine. The service by Sean was impeccable. He is an authentically kind person and it was a pleasure to be served by him. Thanks to him I tried halibut for the first time and loved it!

I had a great Cesar's salad with shrimps

Great fresh food, amazing atmosphere, the staff is great and accommodating. Large menu with something for everyone. Great for a date night out.

Poor quality and overpriced. Server was rude. Host was rude. Lasagna had zero meat in it and when we asked why, server said it was finely ground into the sauce. Yeah right. Sauce tasted canned. Between 3 of us not a morsel of meat. Go somewhere else for dinner.

As I walked in, the owner was rude, the place was empty and I can now see why. Just look at the other people's pictures.... one family eating. He has more bad reviews than good. A 3.4, should be a one star.... As I walked back to my car to write this review, the owner followed me and wrote down my plate #... Please read the other people's reviews, canned mushrooms! Bad wait staff! Prices! Not even a good bar! Grotto, should be a getto, but that would be a compliment!

Had a great meal with my sisters here while visiting for a wedding in town.

Here is what happen... My wife, our 2 year old and.myself arrived to this restaurant, it was 7pm and had the baby stroller with us, when we got a table inside you can tell the restaurant was not full at all, I put the stroller in the corner where does not block the way for the waiters and the owner told us not to put there, so I moved to our table where clearly blocks the way, so he told me to move the stroller... I asked him where..??? His answer was not very polite, "I do not know... Just move it...!!!" We proceed to leave the place among words from him "fine leave... Go!" I think before the food comes the service, stay away from this place ... Just my humble advise.

Good Italian food. Reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere.

It was ok. Nothing to rave about. Out caprese appetizer and house salad were very bland and not very fresh tasting. The halibut dish was good. What threw me into the never to return side of the street was when I went in to use the bathroom. The inside of the restaurant is very dark and dingy work weird huge mirrors everywhere and the bathrooms were terrible. Our waiter was nice but this is a once and done for us.

The bathrooms are so bad, it's amazing they're open for biz. Great vibe, best food around, fair prices...Wish I never saw the restrooms.

Good drinks and good times. We had the calamari appetizer and caprese salad. The salad, in particular, was very tasty. Very good wine selection and should be since it is an Italian restaurant. A few beers on tap and the Irish red was satisfying.

For the price I expected very tasteful delish meal, it was just average. Server was great. A little to dark inside for my taste.

I’ve honestly had better Italian in my life but the service was still decent. So I’m happy :)

My long time favorite in Scottsdale. Great food and service. Men’s restroom has always needed help and likely not changing. Great staff, owner Gary is cordial and sometimes entertaining. Go there, you will enjoy it.

The food was amazing. Great atmosphere. The best part was the friendly and welcoming waiters. We felt as if we were a part of their family and they were happy to see us!!!

Worst dining experience ever. Told the waiter that the pasta was mushy. He said ok. Told the waiter he gave us the wrong bottle of wine. He said it was the same price anyway. I told him I won’t make a big deal out of it, bu that was not true. I told him I will adjust the tip, he swore at me then threatened me. Unbelievably unprofessional. Awful. Stay away.

I had the sausage parm which was pretty good except the rigatoni was little cold but the sausage very tasty. I liked the sports bar environment and was able to watch some baseball at the bar. The Bartender was very friendly. Overall good experience

Food was great. Atmosphere was bustling. We're even got to see Mary Lurie, a SF Giants radio announcer record a preview show for a last broadcast. Good times!

The ambiance isn't fancy, but the food is good. I get the same thing every time I come here, so does my wife. It never disappoints.

Taking a stroll in Scottsdale, we (group of four) decided to stop in for lunch and grab a table outside. Appetizers, wine, main seafood/pasta dishes were all great and cooked to perfection. Everything came out in a timely manner. The waiter was very responsive and personable. Great place!

Great place. We just had appetizers, but they were really good. The drinks were also good. We hung out there for about 3 hours. The people running the place were very welcoming and engaging. We hadn't planned on visiting this place today, but it was an overall good experience.
